Calcite Particle Behavior
The goal of my research is to see if there is any significant affect on calcite particle behavior due to its surface. I am looking at calcite particles of several different morphologies in water suspensions and comparing their behavior using zeta potential analysis. The slightly soluble nature of calcite complicates the stabilization process and analysis. I am also interested in whether there is an effect caused by the surfactants coating the calcite. These surfactants are added by the chemical manufacturers to prevent the calcite from flocculating together while in an aqueous environment.
