Reactions occurring at the surfaces of natural minerals are among the most important processes that control the mobility and bioavailability of metal and organic species, including many environmental contaminants. The study of reaction mechanisms and molecular-scale structure at mineral-water interfaces is the central focus of research activities in our geochemistry group.

We work closely with the Center for Environmental Molecular Science (CEMS) and collaborate with many groups at Stony Brook University and around the world.

See the PEOPLE and PROJECTS pages to find examples of current research.
