Post Doctoral Research Positions
in Environmental Molecular Science

The Center for Environmental Molecular Science invites applications for two postdoctoral associate positions for research in environmental molecular science. The Center for Environmental Molecular Science is a multidisciplinary collaboration among geochemists, chemists, biologists, physicists, and materials scientists at Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Laboratory, with additional collaborators at Temple University and Penn State University. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to research focusing on the fundamental molecular basis for sequestration of contaminants by natural and engineered materials. Appointments are non-tenure track positions for one year, with possible renewal for an additional year.

A Ph.D. in chemistry, geosciences, marine science, physics, or material science within the last 5 years is required. Prior experience in environmental science is desirable. Expertise in X-ray absorption spectroscopy, X-ray scattering, scanning X-ray microscopy, solid-state NMR, or radiotracer methods, with interests in application to environmental science, is desirable. Superior laboratory skills and demonstrated experience in data analysis and interpretation are essential.

Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Applicants should send a detailed curriculum vita, a letter describing research interests, and names of three references (with complete contact information) to:
